Receiving Critiques

My friend, Karen, just sent me a glowing critique of my novel, The Nithing.  I read it 5 times and then outloud to my husband, then I read it again today.  I love that critique.

But most of my critiques aren’t this way.  This is only after much sweat and hard work on over 30 revisions over several years.

In the beginning, the critiques were full of many more suggestions. Suggestions for sweeping changes.  Each critique resulted in a rewrite of some sort or other.

The thing is, critiques from other eyes are essential to the process of producing good work.
